Dog owners liable for personal injury costs

Dog owners need to be aware that they are liable to pay compensation if their dog causes a car accident. This news may come as a surprise to dog owners who would never imagine that they would have to pay for the cost of an incident involving their pet. For most animal lovers the thought of hitting a dog or cat whilst driving is abhorrent and for the owners the risk of their animal being hit and maybe even killed is certainly a significant concern.

If however it can be proven that the accident was unavoidable from the drivers’ point of view then the dog owner is liable to pay compensation to the driver for the damage to their car and personal injury compensation if they have been hurt. This can all add up to thousands of pounds. This is worrying as many dog owners do not realise that they are liable to pay for damages caused in an accident and fail to take out pet insurance. In fact over 500,000 dog owners may be unaware that they are responsible. In the event that someone made a compensation claim against them they would not be covered for costs. more..

Man Struck by Cement Truck Earns $1.5 Million in Brain Injury Damage Settlement

After being hit in the head by a 50-pound cement chute, John Penner, a normal, hard working married man at age 43, underwent a complete change in character. With the help of Michigan attorney Terry Cochran, the Penner family received $1.5 million in a civil settlement.

On May 19, 2004 John Penner was been granted a $1.5 million settlement as a result of a traumatic brain injury received while working on a road improvement project for the Wayne County Road Commission.

But more important than the settlement is that Penner as a result of the litigation has received the necessary treatment and therapy to restore him to his family and community after living through a nightmare, says attorney Terry Cochran who represented Penner and wife Cindy.

"A traumatic brain injury often is misunderstood by victims, family members, employers and the public," says Cochran, partner in the law firm of Cochran, Foley & Associates, PC of Livonia, MI. "What happened to John Penner is a classic example of how much there is to learn about traumatic brain injuries." more..

How to Start a Bankruptcy Forms Processing Service

Work at home for bankruptcy attorneys nationwide. Documents are filed electronically online. Attorneys save money and drastically reduce their overhead expenses.

The majority of bankruptcy courts nationwide now require all documents to be filed electronically in PDF format. This has opened up an exciting opportunity for professionals to work from their home and draft Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions for attorneys across the United States. The average consumer bankruptcy attorney operates on a very tight budget. Providing him or her with your service will not only lower their overhead costs but maintain consistency in their document preparation procedures.

A typical bankruptcy forms processing business might operate like this:

1. Client downloads or is emailed a set of Client Intake Forms in PDF format to print and fill out in the comfort of their own home.

2. Client will fax or email their completed forms to the attorney for review. If the attorney decides to accept the bankruptcy case, the forms processor begins drafting the bankruptcy petition from the information provided on the Client Intake Forms. more...
